Airborne hyperspectral imagery has shown promise as a viable method to discover clandestine graves in tropical moist forest ecosystems and on grass fields found in a humid continental climate (Kalacska 2009; Leblanc, Kalacska et al. 2012). Nevertheless, a better understanding of how decomposition affects the spectral signature of vegetation and soil is needed in order to minimize false positives.
