The compound l,l-di(4-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trichloroethane.(DDT I) has assumed great imrortanca with the discovery by the Geigy Chemical Company that it is a vary potent contact insecticide. Their results are surrnnarized in a paper by Lauger, Martin and Muller (1). Patents were issued to cover this work (2). To most cow~cn insects, it is the most powerful contact insecticide known. The Geigy paper is chiefly concerned with the testing of a large number of chemicals on various insects. DDT is included in a list of contact insecticides.
