A detailed description is given of a test rig that reproduces in an idealized form the same conditions existing in the piloting region of a continuous combustion system and allows the effects of certain variables to be examined under definable conditions. Tests to determine the effects of air-fuel ratio, atomization, and turbulence, on the combustion and spontaneous ignition delay-temperature relationship of standard aviation kerosene are described
