Researchers have speculated about the addictive features of Non Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) for several years; however, little empirical research has examined this characteristic. The present study sought to advance knowledge of addiction and NSSI by demonstrating the presence of self-reported addictive features in high school and university students who engage in NSSI. A second aim was to identify a clinical profile of students who engage in NSSI with addictive features as compared with students with NSSI who lacked the addictive features.
