The onset of a stroke can cause limitations in all areas of activities and participation. Self-efficacy, a situation-specific form of self-confidence, is a predictor of functional performance post stroke. Self-efficacy is the perception one has about his or her abilities to execute a given task or behaviour successfully (Bandura 1997). Thus self-efficacy plays a crucial role in shaping an individual's expectations for future achievements and influences the planning and execution of actions required to reach their goals.
