The ability to consistently and accurately decode end target reach goals from a patient's neural activity is necessary for the development of an optimal cognitive neural prosthetic which can assist patients with reach system dysfunction. The use of implantable microelectrode arrays to gather neural activity often leads to a spatial bias in the directional tuning of the sampled neurons due to the small subset of neurons which can be simultaneously captured by the microelectrode array.
