Background and hypothesis. Edentulous patients may be at risk for malnutrition and cardiovascular disease even with well made dentures. Improvements in methods used to assess nutritional status suggest that functional biomarkers such as plasma homocysteine (tHcy), in addition to traditional methods, will provide a better quality assessment.
