A study is made of the elastic scattering of positrons by hydrogen atoms at low energy (E<30 ev.). The Born phase shift of order l = 0 is replaced by a corrected phase shift obtained by means of a variational method, and it is found that the phase shifts of higher order differ negligibly from the Born ones. This leads to a comparison between the Born approximation total cross-section and the corrected total cross-section. [...
