Actual surveys have shown that close to 50% of equipment in the average factory in prosperous years was outmoded. No doubt this figure is even higher during business depressions when there appears to be less incentive for investing money in new equipment. That such a state of affairs should exist is unfortunate indeed, and millions of dollars are lost annually through the use of outmoded equipment
