This is a study of the personality of rheumatoid arthritis patients specifically concerned with the characteristic ways in which these patients may deal with interpersonal relationships, influences which appear to be involved in the development of such behaviour patterns, and the relationship of the illness to the personality manifesting these characteristics. This is one of four sections of a pilot study which aimed to discover the influences, stresses, tensions and adjustments in the social field of the patient and how these are related to the precipitation, course, outcome, and possible prevention of the illness
