The interest in cellulose for the purposes of nanocomposite engineering lies in its natural abundance and renewable nature, but also in the truly impressive range of diverse properties which can be accessed from the raw resource. In cellulosic nanocomposite materials, the cellulose component may provide the polymeric matrix for nanoparticles and/or the nanometer-scale constituent.
