Two years ago, the editors of the first volume of Images of Crime described it as "a first attempt to bring together scholars from various European countries and representing a variety of disciplines, in order to examine and comment upon 'representations of crime and the criminal in science, the arts and the media'", and expressed the wish for "more intense co-operation ... among scholars from diverse fields, as well as from various countries".
