In the recent past of private law a trend towards Europeanization or Communitarization can clearly be discerned. It draws from several sources: The common European legal history, comparative law, the uniform law of international conventions and community instruments. The article summarizes these developments and their interaction which may lead to legislative action of the Community within the foreseeable future
