Twenty volume percent of TiC whisker-reinforced MoSi2 matrix composite was fabricated by hot-press sintering. The effects of TiC whisker on mechanical properties at room temperature, bending yield strength at 1200degreesC and wear resistance against Al2O3 material were investigated. The experimental results of 20-vol.% TiCw/MoSi2 composite were compared with those of 20-vol.% SiCw/MoSi2. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
