Alors que la question se pose de savoir si une longue période d'acclimatation peut totalement réduire la pression physiologique de l'exercice en conditions chaudes et humides, les auteurs ont examiné la réponse à exercice sousmaximal de personnes nées dans les tropiques et donc déjà acclimatées, afin de voir si les autochtones ont développé des adaptations spécifiques permettant une performance optimale dans de telles conditions. Etude sur 22 étudiants en sport guadeloupéens et martiniquais, sessions de cyclisme d'une heure en milieu tempéré et tropical. Il en résulte qu'un effort intense et prolongé génère une surcharge dans les réactions cardiaques et thermorégulatoires, limitant la performance aérobie
