Open Isolation Mariefred is one of the most well preserved wood built cities in Sweden. The characteristically colour scale, the standing wood panelling and the slim and compact urban streets, has been main basis for the project. The hotels position and spread on the site is given by the nearby streets. Making a wooden hotel, the entrance floor public and place the hotel building next to the street has been obvious from the very first start. The challenge of the project has been to make an hotel suited for the complex context that the site belongs to.
