An efficient algorithm for detecting invariant and salient image regions is presented. The detected regions are highly repeatable under various viewpoint and illumination variations. With the proposed implementation technique, the region detector becomes much more efficient and practical. Coupled with the distinctiveness and robustness of the detector, fast indexing and retrieval become possible
