The Science Center Berlin is publishing the reports and proceedings of the technology assessment. Volume 7 contains a report by Prof. Berndt-Michael Wilke on the impacts of non-selective herbicides on soil. The central question is whether the non-selective herbicides that can be used in crops engineered to herbicide resistance have less impact on soil organisms and soil functions than the selective herbicides applied so far. This issue is often raised by advocates of herbicides resistant crops to prove the usefulness of the technology.
