The horizontal distribution and species diversity of Collembola (Insecta: Entognatha) were studied in neighbouring beech and spruce forest sites at Smrcina Mt. in the Sumava Mts. The study focused on: (i) influence of the forest type and heterogeneity of understory vegetation on horizontal distribution of soil living and (ii) epigeic Collembola, (iii) distribution of Collembola in various above-ground microhabitats and their contribution to collembolan species diversity of studied forest sites and (iv) horizontal distribution, population dynamics and life cycle of Tetracanthella stachi (Collembola, Isotomidae), one of the most abundant species in the studied sites.Available from STL Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech ...
