The thesis would like to contribute to very large problem by the analysis of the state of stress in the subducting lithosphere. The aim of the work is to determine the state of stress in the subducting lithosphere, and to understand the forces and processes that are significant and responsible for plate deformation and seismicity. The state of stress in subducting slabs can be studied in two ways - either using a knowledge of seismicity and focal mechanisms or using numerical modeling. Both approaches are indispensable, because seismic data provide constraints of numerical models and numerical models help to interpret data. This work includes both approaches.
