The thesis deals with the question of higher education and training in the Czech Republic (CR) in connection with the human capital (HC) theory. The 1st chapter offers a summary of theoretical approaches to the HC, focuses on the problems of investment in education and also introduces costs and benefits from it. In connection with education as an investment there are solved possible approaches to measuring the rate of return from this investment. The aspects of firm education in connection with HC are introduced. The situation with training in the CR evaluates the data from a survey given by the European Statistic Office. Data from the candidates countries and from the EU member states are compared. The results show the position of our country as quite satisfactory one. The Czech companies realize the importance of training as a big competitive advantage.
