Accurate detection and prediction of failures of line-operated three-phase induction motors is extremely important for many commercial and industrial applications. This work extends previous algorithm developments and provides important new capabilities for robust diagnostics and early fault detection. The whole thesis is inspired by a theoretical research, diagnostic products development and practical in-field diagnostic testing. The topics are divided into three parts. The part one provides a brief analysis of the most prevalent induction motor failures and the root cause of these failures. The survey is focused on small induction motors.
