The immune response against two microsporidian species has been studied. Experimental infections of immunocompetent mice have been compared with those of immunodeficient mice. Mice with a disrupted IFN-gamma or IL-12 gene and mice with severe combined immunodeficiency served as models of immunodeficient hosts. The role of particular immune mechanisms was described based on the results of experimental infections. Adoptive transfer experiments were used to examine the role of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes for protective immunity against microsporidians.Text also in EnglishAvailable from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi
