De novo formation of adventitious root meristems involves complex changes in the plant developmental process, creating one of the main difficulties to the cloning of woody species. Before the first cell divisions and formation of the root meristem, numerous endogenous factors interact at biochemical and cellular level. The study of these precocious metabolic changes can lead to the identification of cellular and biochemical markers and allow to understand the basic rooting mechanisms, improving the rooting rates, especially in woody plants.
