Subject of inquiry is scattering matrix of open wavequide and periodic structures. The aim of the work is to establish analytical connection between spectral and diffraction characteristic of open resonators. Analitical representations have been obtained for frequency dependence between elements of scattering matrix within frequency range up to three-mode band inclusive. Resonance mechanisms within one-mode range have been clarified. A number of resonance effects has been disclosed and investigated. Original procedures for band-pass filters and multiplexers synthesis have been developed.
