The aim is to investigate the methods increasing the efficiency of the relativistic backward-wave tube (BWT) and to create the oscillators operating in stable condition at high level of the output peak power. The causes of limiting efficiency of the power exchange have been analysed on base of the numerical calculations. It has been shown that the longitudinal profiling of the phase velocity in the synchronous wave enables to increase sufficiently (up to 2 times) the efficiency of oscillator.
