The investigation is concerned with the problems of optimal control in the first order hyperbolic systems. The aim of the investigation is to study the properties of a sequence of the generalized controls converging along the sections, prove a weak compactness of a set of the generalized controls and study on their basis the sliding modes in hyperbolic systems, and derive necessary cond itions of the optimal capability as well.
