The purpose of the work is the investigation of the state and laws of changing specific and total electric energy consumption at ferrous metallurgy plants (FMPs) and drawing up recommendations relating to the methods of normalization and economy of utilities. The probability laws of changing the specific electric energy consumption for the FMPs of variuos types have been investigated; mathematical models describing the electric power consumption for various energy-intensive installations, industries and plants have been constructed; a method of the exergetic analysis of the technological processes has been used to scientifically normalize the consumption of utilities by the FMPs.
