The experimental investigation of the powerful laser radiation absorption by two-valence neodymium in crystals with the structure of fluorite is the aim of the paper as well as the possibility determination of their use as passive laser gates. As a result main spectroscopic parameters, characterizing the Nd_2_+ ion absorption in crystals CaF_2, SrF_2, BaF_2 have been determined. The possibility of the use of crystals CaF_2:Nd_2_+, SrF_2:Nd"2"+ and BaF"2:Nd2"+ for the passive modulation of the laser quality factor has been shown for the first time.
