The investigation of mechanisms for the initiation of the destruction of brittle media is the aim of the paper as well as the development of the new approach, based on a system of invariant determining parameters. As a result the new model of destruction, making it possible to explain and calculate experimentally observed effects, non-explainable from positions of traditional representations about destruction, has been suggested. The approach suggested makes it possible to forecast effectively strength properties of construction materials under conditions of a shock load and optimum regimes of the desintegration of solid bodiesAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
