Monocrystals and epitaxial films of yttrium iron garnet are considered in the paper aiming at the investigation of the influence of O*992*99+ irradaitaon and alloying by Si*994*99+ and Ca*992*99+ ions on optical and magnetooptical properties of yttrium iron garnet. The clarification of the nature of a charging neutralization mechanism and the nature of the additional absorption of yttrium iron garnet in the spectrum IR-region is also the aim of the paper. As a result the influence of Si*994*99+, Ca*992*99+ ion admixtures and irradiation by O*992*99+ ions on optical and magnetooptical properties of yttrium iron garnet has been investigated.
