Purpose of the work: creation and investigation of effective lasers of the 2- mu range operating at a room temperature and based on the crystals of chromium-bearing scandium garnets activated by the holmium and thulium ions. The work included the experimental and theoretical investigation of the lasers being created. The theoretical investigation involved physical processes which had not been studied earlier. Physical models are created to describe the generation of the 2- mu lasers based on the Cr-Tm and Cr-Tm-Ho active media. The crystals of chromium-bearing rare-earth scandium garnets were used as a basis for creating a number of effective 2- mu range lasers generating at a room temperature.
