Subject of inquiry: ionization waves with gas impulse breakdown in long discharge tubes. The goals of the work are: detailed investigation of initiation and propagation dynamics of ionization waves, investigation of being originated high-energy electrons influence upon its properties, ionization waves practical application. A qualitative model has been offered which describes the characteristics of ionization waves within various gas pressure ranges. Thorough electron-optical investigations of ionization waves and influence of medium local properties have been carried out for the first time.
