The object of the investigation is the production operations of polishing the optical glass. The purpose is the development of methods of selecting the polishing conditions for optical glass half-finished articles with the tools having bonded polishing grains and with the process temperature constraints taken into account. A thermophysical model has been developed and analytically described for the considered process for the first time. Methods of calculation and experimental determination of the contact temperatures and selection of polishing conditions have been developed, with the temperature constraints considered; methods of a thermophysical analysis of the structures of polishing tools have been devised.
