Landscape analysis in development of optimum regional network of biospheric reservations (at the example of the sahara)

The landscapes of the Sahara were investigated with the aim of the development of methods for organization of the optimum network of the biospheric reservations in the Sahara on the basis of landscapes. As a result the methods for development of the single regional network of the biospheric reservations on the basis of landscapes were suggested. The landscape map of the Sahara was drawn up as well as the map for physical-geographical regioning. Typical, rare and unique landscapes of the region were detected and mapped. The development degree of the region was assessed. The territory of the Sahara was classified according to its fitness for the organization of the biospheric reservations. The methods for the development of the regional networks of biospheric reservations on the basis of landscapes and the methods for detection of the typical and unique landscapes are used in practice.
