Technologien in Stadtverkehrsmanagementsystemen. Bd. 2 Schlussbericht

For the realisation of transport management systems in conurbations, the introduction of new technologies is no end in itself. They must be adapted to the future concepts for an overall integrated transport system whereby priority must increasingly by accorded the environmentally-friendly urban public transport systems. The aim of the project was the analysis and assessment of applied technologies and those under development for concept for compatible urban transport coverage. An inventory of current and already concluded projects on integrated transport systems was conducted. Approaches for model concepts in conurbations and technologies in use and under development were analysed. Related to the aims of an integrated transport system, deficits in the technological field were revealed. The important result is that systems and related components for the individual transport system are available or development is well advanced. Development tasks for the technical implementation or traffic management systems are mainly necessary still in the adaption of existing individual systems and components and those under development and the networking of transport authorities. In EU sponsored projects, particulary in German conurbans development in sub-areas and field trials are taking place to demonstrate the technical feasibility of data exchange between individual transport authorities.
