Virtueller Iron Bird - Kopplung von flugmechanischer und System-Simulation als Entwurfswerkzeug fuer Flugsteuerungs- und deren Energiesysteme Abschlussbericht

Within the research project a simulation tool for the project design of flight control systems has been developed. The programme includes simulation of flight controls, other utility consumers and hydraulic power systems embedded into a flight mechanics simulation. This, flight manoeuvres and disturbances (as gusts, turbulence, configuration changes by flap setting, landing gear operation) can be applied to the virtual aircraft and stimulate system response. System simulation includes continuos simulation models of all major components (pumps, piping systems, valves, actuators etc.) as well as redundancy management of central flight control computers based on Petri nets. By this, normal and degraded system configurations after failures can easily be investigated and system performance parameters be defined according to flight mechanics requirements. The simulation programme has been developed under MATLAB Simulink, has a modular structure and includes a component bibliotheque as well as graphical user interface. Function of the system simulation has been verified by comparison with ground test results from ATD experimental aircraft.
