The influence of non-planar blade tips (winglet), respectivily the influence of higher-harmonic control, on the three-dimensional flow field of blade tip vorticies has been investigated with a specially modified 3 component laser-Doppler velocimeter for the first time on a rotating helicopter rotor blade in the German-Dutsch windtunnel (DNW) with a working distance of 5 m. By means of a phase correlated measuring method, both spatial and temporal information on the structure of these blade tip vorticies could be obtained. The results show, that due to the non-planar blade tip the spatial structure and the position of the tip vortex could be changed.
