The aim of BEHAVIOR was the development of elementary components of model based expert systems, to integrate them into prototypes, and to evaluate the results and implementation in a realistic application. The activities have been based on the results of the previous project TEX-B. They are given by fundamental methods for knowledge representation, reasoning techniques, and first integrated systems. The integrated systems coming out of TEX-B are experimental systems. Within TEX-B they had been used to get a better understanding of the problems of model based reasoning, in general, and to find ideas of how to solve the principle problems still existing in that field.
