On the bridge of sea-going vessels there is a multitude of equipment today with partly overlapping functions. From this, an undesired complexity results leading to increasing demands for qualification. The SCC-BI project was intended to deliver a decisive contribution to the neutralization of the existing contradiction between requested and avialable qualification of today's personnel on the bridge. This has been achieved by an integration of ship's tasks and functions going beyond the limits of the subsystems into a 'Ship Control Center (SCC)'.
