Ship Control Center. Benutzerfuehrung und Informationsverteilung (SCC - BI) Abschlussbericht

On the bridge of sea-going vessels there is a multitude of equipment today with partly overlapping functions. From this, an undesired complexity results leading to increasing demands for qualification. The SCC-BI project was intended to deliver a decisive contribution to the neutralization of the existing contradiction between requested and avialable qualification of today's personnel on the bridge. This has been achieved by an integration of ship's tasks and functions going beyond the limits of the subsystems into a 'Ship Control Center (SCC)'. The development of an unified user guidance, of a central workstation with unified MMI, of a consistent information base and a standardized information exchange as well as a hierarchization of data aiming at reducing the information multitude serves for making the operation of the ship more secure.
