The computer center software (CCS) developed by the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC"2) supplies the user by a resource description language with a virtual view of the equipment available at PC"2 providing thus a possible basis for the design of a metacomputer with combined descriptive and integrative level. Main architecture components of the CCS system are the quenemanager (QM), the portmanager (PM), machine managers (MM_s) and mastershells. PM and QM represent the administration instances, while MM_s, realized as privileged UNIX daemon process, form the interface to the parallel computers in the PC"2.
