According to the actual state of the development the application of SiSiC for slide bearings is extremely limited in alkaline media. The aim of the investigations was to increase the corrosion resistance in leaches by using stable silicides. For that reason several silicide forming components were examined according to their infiltration behaviour and corrosion resistance with respect to further characteristics of the materials. As a result Zr-silicide-SiC and Mo-silicide-SiC have been developed. They have a significantly better corrosion resistance in alkaline and partly in acid media.
