The objective of this project was to develop a high-temperature oxidation protection for carbon/carbon composites (C/C) and capillary siliconized C/C (C/SiC) by chemical vapor deposition of hafnium carbide. It was already at the beginning of the research project that adherent, mechanically stable coatings and protective coatings compatible with a variety of substrates were produced.
