It was discovered that the mixed attach-to route is successful in obtaining higher generation (above 3) dendronized polymers. Consequently, this strategy enables to prepare of higher generation dendronized polymers with high molar mass (above Pn = 400). These polymers have not been accessible by any other methods until now. Novel G1 to G4 dendrons with polarity gradient were prepared. Some of them were converted into the corresponding macromonomers and polymerised to yield new dendronized polymers or polyelectrolytes (after deprotection) G2 and G3 dendronized polymers 23 and 24 with polarity gradient can be prepared by both monomer and attach-to routes.
