Die dekagonale Phase ist eine besondere Form der Quasikristalle, die eine zehnzaehlige Achse enthaelt. Ziele dieser Arbeit waren einmal eine genauere Kenntnis der Realstruktur der dekagonalen Phase, einschliesslich ihrer Defektstruktur. Zum anderen sollten die metallurgischen Entstehungsbedingungen geklaert werden, mit dem Ziel einer Verbesserung der Zuechtungsmethoden fuer Quasikristalle. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde auf Zusammenhaenge zwischen Stoechiometrie, Temperaturbehandlung und Struktur der dekagonalen Phase gelegt. Schliesslich wurden Untersuchungen der Eigenschaften, insbesondere von deren moeglichen Anisotropien durchgefuehrt.
