In order to characterize the load bearing and strain properties of composite beams made of wood and polymer concrete, the following experimental investigations were carried out: testing of epoxide resin and polyester resin as the polymer component, determination of the optimal polymer content in the concrete mechanical testing of the polymer concrete, investigations on composite beams, microscopic studies of the composite joints. The application of the polymer concrete leads to an increased failure load and to decreased deflection values. Determining factor for the failure behaviour is the wood material.
