In this project Au-coatings produced by ICB (Ionized Cluster Beam) were tested and analysed. They were compared to coatings produced by thermal evaporation, low voltage ionplating and anodic arc evaporation. As substrate mostly diamond turned Cu was used. Tested was e.g. adhesion, abrasion, durability and absorption at 10,6 #mu#m. Analytics contained EDX, WDX, REM, SIMS as well as x-ray diffraction. ICB-produced Au-films show enhanced adhesion and reflexion at 10,6 #mu#m, however ionplating-films are practically of the same quality. In addition to that the first Mo-films on Cu produced by the newly developed sputter cluster process were studied. They show good adhesion and from a minimum thickness of 250 nm on increased abrasion resistance....
