The existence of solutions to the static contact problem with Coulomb friction is investigated in the case where no displacement conditions are given on any part of the boundary. The penalty method, a certain regularization of the friction term and a coercive approximation of the semicoercive contact problem is employed and an existence theorem is derived. The paper extends results obtained recently by the same authors for the coercive case.
