This volume contains the printed editions of the papers presented at the DGLR/DLR symposium ''Systems engineering and quality management in aerospace industry'' at the German Aerospace Research Establishment (DLR), Koeln-Porz from 27 to 28 April 1994. Being a specialist symposium, this conference offered a platform for the exchange of experience gathered from new developments in the important fields of system management, project management, and quality management. New methods and tools of management and systems engineering were presented and discussed as well as in particular experience gathered from their application within the aerospace industry. General topics of the symposium included: system design, system specification, configuration management, technology assessment and efficiency assessment, project planning and follow-up, reliability of operation and product liability, quality management and certification of test facilities, integrated management methods and case examples.
