In Germany, latent cooling loads from ambient humidity contribute more to the cooling load of fresh air than the sensible loads. This means that energy consumption of air conditioning systems can be reduced by alternative dehumidification techniques. A system is presented which also reduces electricity consumption in the summer season and has a lower energy consumption than systems with refrigerating compressors. The sorptive process uses low-level heat. The circulating water is used as cooling water for the dehumidification process, thus ensuring high dehumidification efficiencies.
